Kling & Bang is proud to announce the opening of Elísabet Brynhildardóttir’s and Selma Hreggviðsdóttir´s exhibition Desiring Solid Things. In the exhibition the artists explore the complex world of emotions humans can have towards objects and their materiality. Elísabet and Selma have a long history of collaborative projects such as exhibitions, publications and other projects in the field of visual art.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a book will be published containing a collection of love letters to an object, written by 12 artists and writers. The authors of the love letters are John Ryaner, Aniara Oman, Ásdís Sif Gunnarsdóttir, Katrín Inga Jónsdóttir Hjördísardóttir, Bjarki Bragason, Jóna Hlíf Halldórsdóttir, Hjálmar Stefán Brynjólfsson, Hildigunnur Birgisdóttir, Abraham Sapién Córdoba, Helen Grøn, Hayley Tompkins and Laueren Hall. |

Elísabet Brynhildardóttir (b. 1983). BA, University College for the Creative Arts (2007). Elísabet lives and works in Reykjavík, Iceland. She graduated from University College for the Creative Arts, UK, in 2007. Ever since her graduation she has participated in various exhibitions and projects. Her works have been shown in i8 Gallery, Akureyri Art Museum, Skaftfell Center for Visual Arts and The Living Art Museum amongst other places. In her works Elísabet explores the boundaries of drawing whilst contemplating ideas of impermanence, security and time.
Selma Hreggviðsdóttir (b. 1983) graduated with M.A. from the Glasgow School of Art in 2014 and holds a B.A. degree from the Iceland University of the Arts, 2010. After finishing her studies at the Iceland University of the Arts her work has been showcased both in Iceland and abroad in spaces such as Civic Room, The Living Art Museum,The Glue Factory, The Art museum Akureyri and Ausstellungsraum Klingental. In her work Selma contemplates our emotional and cultural experiense of spaces, looking at how we mentally and physically navigate and evaluate our surroundings. |
