27. 04. 2024 - 02. 06. 2024

his Saturday, 27th of April at 16.00, two exhibitions will open at Kling&Bang: “They Removed a Plank of Wood from their Pocket” an exhibition by the artists duo Tara and Silla and the exhibition “Monophthong” by Andri Björgvinsson.

Monophthong
Andri Björgvinsson presents new works that all circulate and resonate. The works could be described as musical suggestions that are propelled by window-wiper motors. These motors play polyrhythmic and unpredictable melodies with different approaches, for instance with and exact replica of a human oral cavity and bells that are used to introduce children to musical performance. And thus, within the confines of the space, an electrically powered musical bustle is created that repeats itself into infinity.
Andri Björvinsson (b. 1989) graduated with a BFA from the Iceland University of Art in 2015. Andri has namely had a solo exhibition in Harbinger and in Raum für Drastische Maßnahmen in Berlin and participated in various group shows in Reykjavík. In a addition to his visual art works Andri makes music and the parallels between the two practices are apparent. In the summers he runs an exhibition space in Borgarfjörður Eystri called “Gletta”.
